Care Package

At Tuesday's practice the group agreed to put together a package of stuff for Mr. Knowlton who is currently serving as an Lt. in the army over in Iraq. Whenever you hear about convoys getting hit, think of him because he's guarding them from his armored vehicle. For you freshmen, Mr. Knowlton taught science at Dirigo until last year.

In case you didn't know, back in the "pre-Amy and Sara " age of the team, the entire team, including judges, would often go to debates in Mr. Knowlton's mini-van. He became less visible when he re-joined the Army Reserves because of training weekends, but he continued to help out when we were in a bind at National's right up to last year.

We haven't set up many details yet, but I think we will get our first day at the middle school behind us first. After that we'll put up signs and spread the word. Several staff members have already said they'd help me with postage, and Mr. Chamberlin is going to contribute some homemade maple syrup. Ms. Adley is going to bake some cookies to send. Think of things to contribute and at some point someone will post a list of things usually requested by soldiers in Iraq.

We'll come up with a "due date" so anything that should be sent quickly (homemade cookies) can be planned out better. Stay tuned...
