Thanks,

Subject: Bates High School Debate Tournament
Hi John,
Could you please forward this to the rest of the MFA list?
Thanks,
Hi Everyone,
I'd like to remind everyone of the Debate and Speech Tournament to be hosted by Bates College on Saturday November 18th, 2006.
The events being offered this year include; Policy, Public Forum, and Lincoln-Douglas debate as well as Student Congress and Speech.
We are offering Policy this year, and strongly encourage Coaches to send competitors to compete in this event so that there will sufficient competition for good debate.
The cost is $10 per person per event, so a speech competitor who is doubled entered in two speech events would cost $20, a public forum team would cost $20, an LD competitor $10, etc.
Registration for events is due Wednesday at 5:00 at the latest!
Any registration after this deadline will be considered late and will incur a $20 penalty.
**Further Information**
Registration will begin at 8:00 and close at 9:00 prompt. Any team arriving after this time will not be able to compete.
Registration and assembly will take place in Olin Arts Center on the Bates campus.

This building is at the top of the map provided near Lake Andrews, and is marked with the number 68.
Directions to Bates Campus:

When arriving at Bates, parking will be provided at the large lot located directly below Lake Andrews on this map, http://www.bates.edu/central-detail.xml immediately off of College Street.
The Invitations have been attached to this email as well, and there have been a couple minor corrections to them.
First off, the bottom of the previous Speech invitation which showed a rate of $5 per entry, contradicting the written portion above has been corrected. It is indeed $10 per entry for speech events.
The other correction concerns the Junior Varsity divisions in Public Forum and Lincoln-Douglas. I had intended to remove the JV division from the PF invitation but missed it before. We have decided to eliminate the JV bracket for both PF and LD due to a limited demand in past years. In the past we often received ~6 entries in the JV bracket, which due to our tab policy which restricts any teams from hitting each other twice and protects teams from hitting their own school, meant more often than not teams entered as JV were pulled up to compete in the bottom of the varsity bracket. Since we do not believe that a JV bracket can be sustained in this manner, we have decided to limit the categories to Novice and Varsity only. We hope this isn't an inconvenience.
I look forward to receiving your registrations in the next few days and to seeing many of you Saturday!
